Annemarie Menelli grew up in south Florida, an area well-known as a dynamic intersection of international culture and great food. After graduating from university with a degree in film, Annemarie moved to Washington D.C. to work in television. She still remains active in film and television, managing a number of projects focusing on philanthropic media.
In 2007, Annemarie visited the Dominican Republic, where her brother was serving in the United States Peace Corps, with the intention of creating a documentary based on his experience. As she filmed the project, her brother continually stressed the fact that the cocoa farmers were in need for international outlets to sell their products on the open market. It was from this simple premise that International Organics was born. After coming back from the Dominican Republic, Annemarie knew she couldn't begin this journey with out her good friend and co-owner Anne Nagelvoort and without hesitation Anne jumped on board (literately) and the journey began.
Traveling is in Anne's blood and it didn't take long before Anne's travel bug kicked in to search long and far for the finest organic fair trade specialty items. Since the road trip that brought her from Chicago to her new home in the Colorado Rockies, she hasn't stopped roaming. Throughout fifteen countries on 3 continents, she has sought deeper traveling experiences; volunteering in communities, working the land, always striving to learn the heart of a community. Anne has funded her travel for the past fifteen years working in the food and wine industry. As a devoted yogini, Anne brings her practice off of the mat and infuses it into her diet, studying the principles of Ayurveda and the healing properties of foods. Anne is working with chefs across the country to bring the best, most intense and intriguing spices and sweets to your table.
